ABOUT ME
About Me
Photographer, creative director, fine artist, fashion stylist
I'm Gabriella Dell'Aquila, an artist who loves the beauty both of nature and of human creation - our dreams. As a photographer, creative director, fine artist and fashion stylist, I express and mirror mine. I craft self-tailored visual projects for brands, restaurants, architects, chefs, designers and other dreamers - aiming to translate their brand to the artistic language of photography and helping connecting with people that dream together.
I'm also a Fashion Stylist, signing the styling concept of all of my Fashion photographs. All projects in my portfolios were both creatively directed and photographed by me.
I dream of visual stories that aim to capture the beauty, the complexity and sophistication of our world, of contemporaneity and human potencial - often tapping into the contrast between city and nature - and sometimes (mostly in my fine art photos) coming back to the wild, to the folk and to the antique human creations to speak of unchangeable truths.
In Visual Arts, there's a concept known as plasticity. It refers to the precision of the artist's techniques in creating a piece or art as it was imagined before; it also refers to the harmony of the piece itself: the harmony between the composition, the textures, the shapes, the colours and, most of all, the harmony between the concept behind the artwork, the final piece and the language of the artist.
As a photographer, creative director and fashion stylist, my goal is also to achieve a high plasticity in my work, especially in the final piece, that are my photographs; it means I value image quality and technical precision, as well as sensibility, beauty and harmony. It has to be much more than just aesthetics; it has - like Arts - to be about Life. And Life is about Dreams - and pursuing them. It is about telling stories, tales - of people, of places, of things. The true beauty of it lies in the subjectivity. My work is about bringing this true beauty to photography.
I challenge myself to get it while shooting in any city or land scenario. Of course, I chose precisely the colour pallets, the textures and the shapes that I am going to work with - so I can create what I have imagined for that specific photoshoot. Even so, the unexpected is always welcome to this challenge of mine - sometimes, it just appears; and Life is filled with plenty of unexpected things, and find beauty, especially plastic beauty, like we see in the so called Plastic Arts - is the aim of my photography.
